- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Additional granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions:
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll each ball in additional granulated sugar to coat
Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart
Use the bottom of a glass to gently flatten each dough ball
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
