Ingredients:
- 2 fish fillets such as cod or haddock
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Pickles
- Mayonnaise
- Ketchup
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350F 175C
In one bowl, whisk together the egg and milk
In another bowl, mix the flour, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper
Dip each fish fillet into the egg mixture, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the fish to adhere
Carefully place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy
Remove and drain on paper towels
Toast the burger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until they are lightly browned
Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise and ketchup on the bottom half of each bun
Place a lettuce leaf on top of the sauce, followed by a crispy fish fillet, tomato slices, and pickles
Top with the other half of the bun and serve hot
